Outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st or 2nd generation, the 4U Gigabyte G481-H81 GPU Server can support up to 8x Nvidia Tesla V100 GPGPU cards. This system is designed for Visual computing, AI, AI training, AI inference and a number of other high-performance computing applications.
10GbE ports on the back of the system ensure you can get that compute accelerated data to the right place fast. Outfitted with up to 8x high-performance GPUs, the Gigabyte G481-H81 GPU server features 1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 3TB of memory, this system can power through enterprise database, cloud and storage, plus high-performance workloads. It features 12x bays up front plus support for data centric persistent memory modules that can either be used to extend memory or storage depending on BIOS settings. Powering the system are three 1600W redundant 80PLUS Platinum PSUs.
1st or 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors are supported offering up to 28 physical cores and 56 virtual threads. With both processors installed the system will support a maximum of 56 cores. Only PCIe 3.0 speeds are supported using these processors. Certain 1st generation CPUs also support Intel Omni-path host fabric interface for improved I/O performance.
Each processor supports 6x memory channels with 12x memory module slots for up to 24x active memory module slots in a dual processor configuration. Memory speed will be dependent on CPU, memory modules, and memory configuration with memory speed determined by the slowest performer. Registered (RDIMM) or load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported, but LRDIMMs will provide the highest capacity using 128GB modules in all slots for up to 3TB of memory. RDIMMs will provide half that at 1.5TB. Only second-generation CPUs are compatible with data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM) and only RDIMM memory modules can be used in conjunction with DCPMMs.
12x 3.5-inch storage bays that can also be used to support 2.5-inch storage devices line the front of the system. 8x storage devices are supported by default through the system board, however, the other 4x storage bays will require a SAS controller for activation. SAS and SATA drives are supported with SAS offering the greatest throughput at up to 12Gb/s compared to SATA at 6Gb/s. SAS storage devices will require a discrete SAS drive controller.
Support for up to 8x Nvidia GPU accelerators is provided by 8x PCIe 3.0 x16 expansion slots at the back of the chassis. Another low-profile PCIe 3.0 x16 slot at the back of the chassis can be used to support optional high-performance I/O with up to 4x QSFP28 LAN ports offering 25Gb/s bandwidth per port. One slos at the front has a PCIe 3.0 x8 low profile slot and can be used for the SAS HD/RAID controller. The system comes with 2x 1Gb/s BASE-T LAN ports on the front and 2x in back with another 1Gb/s management LAN port. CPUs featuring Omni-path architecture will provide even more high-speed I/O ports. Only a uniform population of GPUS are supported, no mixing.
Base Management Controller (BMC) is provided through the AMI MegaRAC SP-X solution providing a graphical browser-based user interface. Gigabyte also offers two proprietary management applications that are free of charge. The Gigabyte Management Console provides management for a single system, while the Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) provides management for multiple Gigabyte servers. Both feature a graphical user interface and provide information on health status, plus remote out-of-band boot and the ability to create alerts.
With support for up to 8x double-slot GPU accelerators and dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Gigabyte G481-H81 GPU server is a great choice for high-performance computing applications in the data center, cloud or as an addition to an enterprise business. Supporting generous storage up front with 12x 3.5-inch storage bays and up to 3TB of memory, this system is also a good fit for data base applications.
