Powered by dual 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Gigabyte G492-H80 GPU server features PCIe Gen 4.0 technology and memory speeds of up to 3200MHz, depending on the type of DDR4 memory modules installed. At 4U, the system is capable of supporting up to 8x full-height, full-length PCIe GPGPU cards.
To run high-end simulations along with compute intensive applications, like AI, AI training and inference, the Gigabyte G492-H80 GPU server supports two Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs from the 3rd generation. These processors leverage the newest technology including PCIe 4.0, plus support for more and faster memory at up to 3200MHz. Up to 8x full height, full width PCIe based GPGPUs can be installed.
With the newest MG62-G41 motherboard, the server the larger P+ socket for dual 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 40 cores per socket. The “Ice Lake” CPUs run on Intel’s 10nm architecture while operating at a TDP threshold of up to 270W. With a higher core count, plus 64 lanes with PCIe 4.0 support, and an increase in memory bandwidth, this server can offer solutions for complex workloads. 3x 2200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSUs provide redundancy in the case of a power outage.
For faster analysis of the largest data sets, the G492-H80 server supports up to 32x DIMM slots with speeds of up to 3200MHz and 8TB of memory, depending on the type of memory installed. Users have the option to populate the memory slots with RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules up to 128GB each, for a total of 4TB. 3DS RDIMM and 3DS LRDIMM modules support memory modules up to 256GB each, for a total of 8TB at full capacity.
On the front of the 4U GPU server there are 12x 3.5” drive bays, which can also be outfitted with 2.5” drives. The system supports hot-swappable SATA HDD and SSD drives, which are labeled with blue colored tabs. On the motherboard, there are two SATA DOMs for additional storage or to boot the operating system.
A total of 8 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots can be accessed at the rear of the G492-H80 chassis and are dedicated for double slot GPU accelerators. PCIe 4.0 supports twice the throughput of PCIe 3.0, allowing for faster and larger data transfers. AMD, NVIDIA, XILINX, and Qualcomm full-height, full-length GPUs are compatible with the system. Aside from the storage bays on the front panel, 2x onboard SATA DOMs are supported for additional storage.
Gigabyte provides their proprietary Gigabyte Management Console (GMC), which accesses the baseboard management controller (BMC) via a web browser, but can also be locally managed by using the dedicated MLAN port on the front of the server. In addition, the Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) software is free of charge and can be used to monitor and manage multiple servers. GSM is also compatible with IPMI and Redfish. Both options reduce licensing and maintenance costs.
Supporting the latest technology, the Gigabyte G492-H80 GPU server features components that help businesses power through compute-intensive workloads. With support for dual 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the server can be configured with 32x DIMM slots with up to 8TB of memory and 12x hot-swappable SATA drives. 8x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots are dedicated for support of full-height, full-length GPUs from various manufacturers to accelerate computation and graphics rendering, making this platform ideal for visual computing, machine learning, and AI applications.
