The Gigabyte G492-Z51 GPU server is part of Gigabyte’s second-generation of 4U G-series servers and offers significantly higher performance than the first-generation systems. This platform features the latest PCIe Gen4 technology for twice the I/O performance of PCIe Gen3. There are 12x hybrid drive bays up front and the system can house up to 8TB of memory, and up to 10x GPGPU cards.
Ideal for AI, AI training, AI inference, and high-performance computing, the 4U Gigabyte G492-Z51 GPU server has the power to solve any workload and take on countless highly intensive compute applications. The 12x hot-swappable drive bays lined across the front of the server gives users the flexibility to increase performance by configuring the server with NVMe, SATA, or SAS. Support for up to 10x FH/FL GPU cards bring a new level of performance. The system is powered by 3x 2200W redundant PSUs.
Gigabyte G492-H80 GPU Server
2x 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable, 8x PCIe 4.0 x16, 12x SATA
Dual AMD EPYC processors up to 280W from the 7002 or 7003 series family allow for 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes and up to 64 cores per socket. Built on a 7nm process, the dual AMD CPUs support PCIe 4.0 and 8x memory channels per processors for up to 8TB of memory, depending on the type of memory installed.
The AMD 7003 CPUs can support two DIMMs in each of the 8x memory channels, for 16x module slots per CPU and a total of 32x memory module slots with both CPUs installed. RDIMM and LRDIMM modules support up to 128GB each, for a total of 4TB. 3DS RDIMM and 3DS LRDIMM modules support up to 256GB each, for a total of 8TB. Memory speeds depend on the number and types of DIMMs in the system, but can reach the maximum of 3200MHz.
*Systems can be built with 1x DIMM per channel, 2x DIMMs per channel, or a combination of the two options.
A total of 12x 3.5” drive bays line the front of the G492-Z51 server. The 8x drive bays with amber tabs are compatible with NVMe or SATA/SAS, while the 4x drive bays with blue tabs support SATA or SAS devices only. All drives are hot-swappable and can be configured with HDD or SSD drives. For SAS drive support, a discrete SAS HD/RAID controller is required.
This platform is an NVIDIA Certified system, but other GPU manufacturers such as AMD, XILINX, and Qualcomm are also compatible. Up to 10x PCIe Gen4 x16 slots are available for PCIe GPUs, which promise to deliver higher levels of performance for deep learning and HPC. In addition, there are 2x PCIe Gen4 x16 slots on the front of the server, which accommodate half-length low-profile interfaces. A single PCIe Gen4 x16 slot on the rear of the server along with a single OCP 3.0 mezzanine slot with a PCIe Gen4 x16 interface provide options for network controller add-on-cards (AOC).
The Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) software platform is Gigabyte’s own multi-server remote management software. GSM is compatible with IPMI and Redfish (RESTful API) connection interfaces. Additionally, there are 2x 10Gb/s BASE-T LAN ports on the front panel and a single 10/100/1000 management LAN port.
The Gigabyte G492-Z51 GPU server can be assembled to address several flexible configurations. First off, the 12x 3.5” drive bays on the front of the server can support NVME, SATA, or SAS drive formats for a hybrid storage solution. Memory configurations can also range from 1x DIMM per channel, 2x DIMMs per channel, or a combination of the two options for up to 8TB of memory. This server can deliver the performance of several servers, with the added convenience of including the latest technology like PCIe Gen4, 7003 series AMD EPYC CPUs, and support for up to 10x full-height, full-length GPGPU cards.
