As part of the Gigabyte G492 series of GPU servers, the Gigabyte G492-ZD0 GPU server can be deployed in data centers for high-performance computing, AI, deep learning, and data science. This server accommodates 8x NVIDIA A100 accelerators on NVIDIA’s HGX A100 supercomputing platform. The 4U chassis design is divided into two sections. The top 1U supports the motherboard, CPUs, memory modules, and storage while the bottom 3U houses a slide-out tray with the NVIDIA HGX A100 8-GPU Delta Baseboard.
Featuring the latest technology, the 4U Gigabyte G492-ZD0 GPU server supports dual AMD EPYC processors, PCIe Gen 4 technology, and memory speeds of up to 3200MHz. Most importantly, this GPU server holds 8x NVIDIA A100 accelerators with up to 80GB each that are mounted on NVIDIA’s HGX A100 supercomputing platform baseboard. Power is provided by 3+1 redundant 80PLUS Platinum 3000W PSUs. Large systems fans both front and back provide cooling for this high-performance platform.

2x 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable, 8x PCIe 4.0 x16, 12x SATA
The Gigabyte G492-ZD0 uses dual AMD EPYC CPUs from the 7002 or 7003 series, allowing 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, and 64 cores per processor. Built on a 7nm advanced process technology, the CPUs have a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 240W and a cTDP of up to 280W. These CPUs also allow for up to 8TB of DDR4-3200 memory support when all 32x memory module slots are populated.
As a dual-socket server, this system supports 16x DIMMs in 8x memory channels, per processor, for a total of 32x DIMMs. The motherboard can be populated with RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules for up to 4TB of memory, or 3DS RDIMM or 3DS LRDIMM memory modules for up to 8TB of memory. When 2x DIMMs per channel are installed, the server is still capable of supporting memory speeds of up to 3200MHz.
Sitting on the top 1U portion of the G492-ZD0 chassis, there are 8x 2.5-inch Gen4 U.2 NVMe or SATA drive bays. SAS drives are not supported on this chassis. When populated, the drives are hot-swappable and can be configured with either HDDs or SDDs.
On the bottom 3U portion of the server you is the HGX A100 supercomputing baseboard from NVIDIA, designed to handle large datasets and sophisticated simulations. The HGX A100 baseboard can be outfitted with up to 8x SXM4 form factor GPUs. NVIDIA’s A100 Tensor Core 80GB GPUs with up to 1.3TB of GPU memory and a memory bandwidth of over 2TB/s. All management and LAN ports are on the front panel for easy access, but the PCI-Express slots can be found in the rear just below the 6x fans. In addition to the Nvidia HGX A100 baseboard, there are 8 x low-profile Gen4 x16 expansion slots to install other add-on cards.
The MZ52 motherboard features an onboard Aspeed AST2500 management controller and dedicated MLAN port to allow for remote management. Also, on the front panel you will find 2x 10Gb/s BASE-T LAN ports. ¬¬The proprietary Gigabyte Server Management software can also be installed on each server for remote access to the system and provides additional tools to manage one or many servers.
Supporting 8x 2.5” Gen4 U.2 NVMe or SATA hot-swappable drives, the Gigabyte G492-ZD0 GPU server enables researchers and scientists to combine simulation, data analytics, and AI to advance scientific progress, among other things. The AMD-EPYC based platform features the NVIDIA HGX A100 8-GPU supercomputer baseboard with up to 8x SXM4 GPUs and provides major performance enhancements with AMD 7002 or 7003 series processors. The server also holds 32x DIMMs for up to 8TB of memory and speeds of up to 3200MHz.
