At 4U, the Gigabyte G492-HA0 features dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs from the 3rd generation, which includes the Platinum, Gold, and Silver versions. Built on a 10nm process, each processor supports up to 40 cores with a thermal design point (TDP) from 105W to 270W. For low latency connectivity between CPUs, the 3rd generation offerings provide an additional ultra-path interconnect (UPI) lane with a bandwidth of up to 11.2GT/s. With all of this power, the Intel “Ice Lake” processors offer support for 8x memory channels per CPU and two memory modules per channel, for a total of 16x DIMMs per CPU, and 32x DIMMs with both processors.
There are 8x channels per CPU, with two memory modules assigned to each channel, for a total of 16x DIMMs per CPU, and 32x DIMMs between both processors. Memory speeds range from 2666MHz to the maximum 3200MHz when select modules are installed. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs support up to 128GB per module for a total of 4TB, while 3DS RDIMM/LRDIMMs support up to 256GB per module, for a total of 8TB.
The G492-HA0 system is equipped with 12x 3.5” or 2.5” drive bays. Four drive bays, which are assigned blue tabs on the drive cages, support SATA or SAS. The remaining 8x, with green tabs on the drive cages, support SATA, SAS, or NVMe. All storage drives are hot-swappable and can be configured with hard disk drives or solid-state drives. To boot the operating system, users are able to install 2x SATA DOMs on the motherboard.
*A SAS card is required for SAS devices support.
The G492-HA0 is a dual root server and allocates 5x of the 10x PCIe Gen4 x16 slots for general-purpose computing on graphics processing units (GPGPUs) to each of the two CPUs. GPUs from NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm, and XILINX are supported. By combining GPU and CPU processing capacity, applications can be programmed for reasons other than graphics processing, such as executing computations normally performed by the CPU, resulting in a speedier, high-performance application. In addition to the GPU slots, the chassis also supports 3x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots, with two in the front part of the server and one towards the rear. An OCP 3.0 card slot on the rear of the chassis just underneath the three 2200W redundant power supplies provides options for network connection speeds and ports. These slots provide users with an additional x4 interface add-on card option for SAS cards or NVIDIA Mellanox InfiniBand cards.
The Gigabyte Management Console (GMC) supports management of the server via a web interface, although it can also be locally managed by using the 2 x 10Gb/s BASE-T LAN ports or the single 10/100/1000 management LAN port on the front of the server.
The Gigabyte G492-HA0 GPU server is designed to be a flexible platform, offering various options for memory, storage, management, graphics, and processors. The 4U G492 series server has the potential to provide groundbreaking processing power for AI applications of all kinds, plus the ability to expedite workloads of all sorts, and assist clients in reducing time to market for their products. With up to 8TB of memory, plus powerful GPGPUs, this server can be configured with the latest technology including PCIE Gen4, 3200MHZ memory speeds, and 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs.
