As part of the TwinPro family of servers, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 2028TP-HTFR features 4x independent server nodes in a 2U chassis. Each of the server nodes offers support for dual intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors and up to 2TB of memory. The 24x upfront SATA3 drive bays are shared between the 4x server nodes, with each allocated 6x drive bays.
Outfitted with 4x independent dual-socket server nodes, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 2028TP-HTFR can bring up to 8x CPUs and 8TB of memory online for a variety of high-performance computing applications. The 24x drive bays up front are divided equally between the server nodes, each of which can also be configured with additional high-speed I/O using a PCIe slot. Powering the system are dual, redundant 2000W Platinum or Titanium level PSUs.

2x Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4/v3, 16x DIMMs, 6x 2.5” drives, 2x 1G
Supermicro SuperServer 2028TP-HTTR
2x Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4/v3, 16x DIMMs, 6x 2.5” drives, 2x 10G
Each of the server nodes can support one or two Intel Xeon E5-2600v3 or v4 processors with a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 140W. At a TDP of 140W, processors with up to 22 physical cores and 44 virtual threads are supported. Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors will support the most memory at the fastest data transfer rates.
With 4x memory channels and 8x memory module slots per socket, there are 16x active memory module slots in a dual processor configuration. Memory speed will vary based on CPU and memory module supported speeds, plus memory configuration. Both Registered (RDIMM) and load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported. LRDIMMs will provide the highest memory capacity at up to 2TB, while RDIMMs will provide up to 512GB of memory.
Twenty-four front, hot-swap drive bays are divided equally between the 4x server nodes on the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 2028TP-HTFR, for a total of 6x drive bays per node. Supported drive types include SAS and SATA HDDs and SSDs, with SATA drives supported natively. A single Supermicro disk on module (SuperDOM) slot on the system board, which is basically a small SATA3 flash memory module, can be used for support of the operating system.
In addition to the 2x RJ45 GbE LAN ports on the back of each server node there is a QSFP 56Gb InfiniBand LAN port. Additional I/O cards can be installed using the PCIe 3.0 x16 low-profile slot or the x16 “0 Slot” on each server node.
Adjacent to the two GbE ports on the back of the system is the integrated platform management interface (IPMI) port, which provides access to the ASPEED AST2400 baseboard management controller (BMC) for remote and at-chassis management of the system.
Supporting 4x independent server nodes in a 2U chassis the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 2028TP-HTFR is designed for high-performance computing, mission critical applications, data center cloud computing, plus virtualization, Big Data, and financial analysis. With all four server nodes outfitted to capacity, this system can bring up to 8x CPUs and up to 8TB of memory online.
