Compute on the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 2028TP-HTR is provided by up to 4x individual server sleds outfitted with dual intel Xeon E5-2600v3 or v4 processors. With both processors installed, each server node provides up to 2TB of memory and is allocated 6x of the 24x up front storage bays.
Designed for mission critical applications, data center and cloud computing, plus Big Data, high-performance computing, and financial analysis, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 2028TP-HTR has 4x separate dual-socket server nodes. The server node provides the cooling and upfront storage which is evenly distributed among the server nodes. Each server node can also support up to 2TB of memory for up to 8x CPUs and 8TB of memory in a 2U chassis. The system is powered by dual redundant PSUs.
Supermicro SuperServer 2028TP-HTR
2x Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4/v3, 16x DIMMs, 6x 2.5” drives, 2x 1G
Supermicro SuperServer 2028TP-HTTR
2x Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4/v3, 16x DIMMs, 6x 2.5” drives, 2x 10G
Choose from Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors. Each of the four server nodes supports one or two CPUs, but both processors are required to access all PCIe and memory module slots. Processors with up to 22 cores and a 55MB cache are supported up to a thermal design point (TDP) of 145W. Each processor has 4x memory channels.
With 4x memory channels and 8x memory module sockets per processor, there are 16 active memory module slots in a dual processor configuration. DDR4 load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules will provide the highest memory capacity at up to 2TB, while registered (RDIMM) memory modules will provide up to 512GB. Memory speeds can run at up to 2400MT/s using v4 processors but memory speed is variable and dependent on CPU, memory modules, and memory configuration.
There are 24x hot-swap SATA3 drive bays lining the front of the TwinPro 2028TP-HTR server chassis. Each of the 4x dual-socket server nodes is allocated 6x of the drive bays. There is also a single port on each of the motherboards for a SATA disk on module (SATADOM) to support the OS.
Dedicated GbE LAN ports are provided on the back of each of the 4x server modes adjacent to the integrated platform management interface (IPMI) port for remote management of the system. Each node also supports a single PCIe 3.0 x16 low-profile slot for support of a high-speed I/O add-on-card (AOC).
The dedicated management port on the back of the system provides access to the ASPEED AST2400 base management controller (BMC) for remote and at-chassis management of the system. Ports up front enable a crash cart connection for at-chassis management, again using the integrated BMC.
Outfitted with four dual-socket server nodes, the Supermicro TwinPro SuperServer 2028TP-HTR delivers impressive performance to support a number of high-performance computing applications. With all nodes at full capacity this 2U server is capable of delivering up to 8x Intel Xeon E5-2600 CPUs and up to 8TB of memory, plus a bank of 24x 2.5-inch storage devices.
