You can install one or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the first- or second-generation with a TDP of up to 205W and up to 28 cores per CPU. However, when one CPU is installed, less memory is supported. Each processor supports six memory channels and up to 12x memory module slots for 24x total active memory module slots with both processors installed.
With both processors installed, the B7119F77V10E4HR-2T55-N platform has 24x active memory module slots. 12x memory module slots are allocated to each processor and can support up to 3TB of memory, depending on the type of memory modules. Registered, load-reduced, non-volatile, and 3DS registered and load reduced DDR4 memory modules are supported on this system. The RDIMM and LRDIMM 3DS modules provide the highest capacity at up to 3,072GB. Standard RDIMMs and LRDIMMs will provide up to 1,536GB of memory. Administrators must use 2nd generation Intel CPUs to take advantage of the fastest 2933MHz memory speed, and only 2nd generation Intel Xeon processors are compatible with Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules.
Up to 14x 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS or SATA HDDs or SSDs are supported on this system offering 6Gb/s natively, and SAS at 12Gb/s access speeds with a separate HD controller installed. The Tyan B7119F77V10E4HR-2T55-N server can be configured with 10x 2.5” SATA or SAS drives plus 4x NVMe U.2 hot swap drives.
Up to 21x PCIe slots are supported on an I/O bridge board plugged into the main motherboard. Up to 10x double-width NVIDIA Tesla GPUs are supported, or 20x single-width NVIDIA Tesla GPUs. With all slots outfitted with GPUs, this leaves one PCIe slot empty for a single x16 PCIe Gen3 slot in the middle of all PCIe lanes that can support additional high-speed IO with an Intel LAN controller. There is also an additional PCIe Gen3 x16 slot for a pre-installed Tyan mezzanine card, which supports a single HD/RAID SAS controller with two x4 mini-SAS connectors for optional NVMe drive support.
The onboard base management controller (BMC) with IPMI 2.0 manages the system’s processor, memory and other hardware at-chassis or remotely.
