This server also offers support for 10x double-width GPUs, which are all single root. With all 24x memory modules installed, the system will support a maximum of 3TB of memory.
The Tyan Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V14HR-2T55-N server is designed for high-performance computing and general-purpose GPU workloads. It features dual-processors with support for first- or second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The 4U rackmount server supports 10x double-width NVIDIA GPUs plus up to 14x internal hot-swap SATA hard disk drives/SSDs operating at 6Gb/s.

This chassis supports two CPUs from the 1st or 2nd generation of Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Offering up to 28 cores per CPU on a 14nm process architecture. A maximum thermal design power (TDP) wattage of up to 205W is supported. The Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V14HR-2T55-N also supports a single CPU deployment with 10x GPUs, but having two processors installed supports much more RAM than with one CPU. In order to reach a maximum memory speeds of up to 2933MHz, and to use Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules, a 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor must be installed.
24x DDR4 memory modules for a maximum capacity of 3,072GB of memory is supported, depending on which type of modules and processors are installed. The types of memory modules that can be deployed are: Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM), Non-Volatile (NVDIMM), RDIMM 3DS, or LRDIMM 3DS. When using non-3DS memory modules, a maximum of 1,536GB is supported. As mentioned above, in order to reach a maximum memory speeds of up to 2933MHz, and to use Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules, a 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor must be installed. Furthermore, to achieve maximum memory capacities both processors are required.
There are 14x internal 2.5” storage bays installed directly behind the front panel. All drives are hot-swappable and support SATA at 6Gb/s or SAS at 12Gb/s with a separate HD/RAID controller. Compared to the other systems in the FA77B7119 family, the Thunder HX B7119F77V14HR-2T55-N platform can only support SAS and SATA drives as opposed to SATA, SAS, and NVMe on the B7119F77V10E4HR-2T-N and B7119F77V10E4HR-2T55-N servers.
An entirely separate I/O bridge board with up to 21x PCIe slots is plugged into the main motherboard with an I/O bridge bracket. Eleven of those slots are x16 PCIe Gen3 slots, while the other 10x are PCIe Gen3 x8 slots, or mux’d (multiplexed) slots located between the x16 slots. These slots share the PCIe lanes and can be used to support up to 20x single-width NVIDIA Tesla GPUs, or up to 10x double-width GPUs. At the midpoint of the PCIe slots there is a single x16 PCIe Gen3 slot that can support additional high-performance IO with the Intel X540-AT2 LAN controller. In addition, there is one PCIe Gen3 x16 slot for a pre-installed Tyan mezzanine card to support a single M2217-L16-IO OCP HD/RAID SAS Controller with two x4 mini-SAS connectors for connection speeds of up to 12Gb/s per port.
The server features an onboard Aspeed AST2500 chipset to manage the system’s processor, fans, memory, and power supplies at-chassis or remotely. The chipset also provides server management with iKVM features through the IPMI 2.0 compliant baseboard management controller (BMC). Similarly, a dedicated LAN port on the back of the Tyan FA77B7119 B7119F77V14HR-2T55-N server allows administrators to gain access to the system for out-of-band management via Microsoft Windows Emergency Management Services (EMS).
As a GPGPU, high-performance computing platform, the Tyan Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V14HR-2T55-N server supports up to 10x double-width NVIDIA GPUs or 20x single-width NVIDIA GPUs. The chassis features two CPUs from the 1st or 2nd generation of Intel Xeon Scalable processors offering up to 28 cores and supporting up to 24x DIMMs. The system also supports up to 14x internal drive bays with support for SATA natively or SAS drives with the addition of a discrete HD controller.
