The Tyan Tyan Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V4HR-2T55-N server is a 10x GPGPU platform designed for GPUDirect RDMA applications, artificial intelligence, and deep neural network workloads. As one of six servers in the Thunder HX FA77B7119 family, this system features an I/O board with up to 21x PCIe slots plugged into the main motherboard for GPU support.
Designed for machine learning, the Tyan Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V4HR-2T55-N platform supports up to 10x double-width GPUs, but also has the capacity to support up to 20x single-width GPUs. Equally important, the system supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors, which support 24x memory modules with a maximum capacity of up to 3TB of memory.

Dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors from the 1st or 2nd generation are supported on this system. The CPU offers a maximum thermal design power (TDP) wattage of up to 205W and up to 28 cores per processor and a system bus of up to 10.4/9.6 GT/s with Intel UltraPath Interconnect (UPI) support. Additionally, the Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V4HR-2T55-N can also function with a single CPU, but will support less memory and PCIe slots. With 2nd generation Intel Scalable CPUs installed, administrators are able to enjoy maximum performance with memory speeds reaching 2933MHz and the ability to mount Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules for greater speed and resiliency.
With all 24x DDR4 memory modules deployed, the server can support up to 3,072GB of memory when using RDIMM 3DS or LRDIMM 3DS memory modules. With RDIMMs or LRDIMMs installed, half of that memory is supported. In order to provide the fastest memory speed of 2933MHz or for support of Intel Optane DC Persistent memory modules, administrators must use second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs.
Compared to the other systems in this family, this system supports 4x 3.5” or 2.5” internal drive bays connected directly behind the front cover. All drives are hot-swappable and support SAS at 12Gb/s or SATA at 6Gb/s. Support for SAS will require an optional HD/RAID controller via a dedicated OCP card slot on the mezzanine.
The dual processors support up to 21x PCIe slots and an additional PCIe Gen3 x16 slot for a pre-installed Tyan mezzanine card. To configure the server with SAS drives, the mezzanine supports a single OCP HD/RAID SAS controller with two x4 mini-SAS connectors. The 21x PCIe slots can be found on an I/O bridge board plugged into the main motherboard. Eleven slots are full-height PCIe Gen3 slots, and 10x are PCIe Gen3 x8 slots, or mux’d (multiplexed) slots. These slots share the same PCIe lanes and can be used to support up to 20x single-width NVIDIA Tesla GPUs, or up to 10x double-width GPUs. Lastly, there is a single x16 PCIe Gen3 slot in the middle of all PCIe lanes that can be used to install additional IO with an Intel LAN controller.
To manage the system’s processor, memory and other hardware at-chassis or remotely, the Tyan FA77B7119 B7119F77V4HR-2T55-N server features an onboard Aspeed AST2500 chipset with Redfish support. Administrators are also able to gain access through a dedicated RJ-45 LAN port on the back of the chassis to manage the system through the Microsoft Windows Emergency Management Services (EMS). Connections and repairs can be made to the servers that are unavailable by in-band methods of connection.
Powered by dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores each, the Tyan Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V4HR-2T55-N server supports up to 20x single-width NVIDIA GPUs or 10x double-width NVIDIA GPUs. With all 24x DIMMs populated, the server can support up to 3TB of memory and 4x internal SAS or SATA HDD or SSD drive bays.
