Description

The dual root complex 4U Tyan Thunder HX FT77DB7109 (B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-NF) Server supports up to eight GPUs for handling a number of High-performance computing applications. There are actually eight Tyan Thunder HX FT77DB7109 server chassis each of which supports a slightly different set of components from the type and number of drives to the number of GPUs and I/O options. The Tyan B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-NF server serial number indicates it’s a two-processor version with support for up to 10x 2.5-inch drives and up to 4x 2.5-inch NVMe, hot-swap U.2 drives. The “F” on the end of the serial number indicates support for Intel Xeon Scalable processors with the integrated Intel Omni-Path offering a 100 gigabit networking fabric—and with two processors that's a total of 200Gb/s fabric connectivity.

Performance

One or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors can be installed on the Tyan B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-NF server, and as previously mentioned, even those with the Omni-Path Fabric connection for high-performance I/O. Each processor supports six memory channels.

Storage

The Tyan B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-NF server supports up to 10x 2.5-inch SATA drives at 6Gb/s and up to 4x 2.5-inch NVMe U.2 drives. Support for up to four NVMe U.2 drives requires a Tyan M2093 PCI-E Gen3 x16 Card. Two PCI-E x8 SFF-8611 OCuLink connectors provide four NVMe ports to support the four up front drives.

Memory

There are 24 DIMM slots total, with each processor supporting 12 memory module slots with two modules per channel. Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) support 768GB and 1.5TB respectively. Using either Registered 3DS or Load Reduced 3DS memory modules will both support up to 3TB in a two-processor configuration.

Expansion

Four PEX 8747 PCIe switches power up to eight x16 sots at the back of the Tyan B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-NF server to support up to eight full-height, full-length, double-width GPUs. A pre-installed Tyan riser card provides two slots, one for a LAN (M2215-L8-1F riser card) and the other for a storage card (M2217-L16-IO riser card). Supported GPUs include the Tesla V100/32GB, V100/16GB, P100/16GB, P100/12GB, P40/24GB, and the Tesla P4.

Management

There are about eight different platforms in the Tyan FT77D-B7109 server barebones family and all feature support for an Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 with iKVM and the DMTF Redfish management protocol, and the Tyan B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-NF server is no exception.
