The Tyan Thunder HX FT77DB7109 B7109F77DV4HR-2T-NF Server is a 4U, dual-socket platform designed for ridiculously parallel workloads, meaning little or no effort is required to separate the problem into a myriad of parallel tasks. This platform supports Intel’s Xeon Scalable processors from both the first and second generation, including those with the integrated Omni-Path fabric connection. Up to eight double-wide GPUs are also supported.

One or two intel Xeon Scalable processors from the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum families up to 205W. Intel Xeon Scalable processors with the an “F” that feature a direct Omni-Path link on the processor for significantly improved I/O performance are also supported. This is denoted by the “F” on the end of the alphanumeric name of the server. A direct Omni-Path connection on the processor reduces latency by removing the need for a separate host fabric interface card. With the Tyan FT77DB7109 (B7109F77DV4HR-2T-NF) Server supporting up to 3TB of memory in a two-processor configuration, only processors with an “M” will provide support for the full compliment of 3TB in a dual processor configuration. Power is provided by up to 3 PSUs with 2+1 redundancy.
Four 3.5-inch or four 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s hot-swap drives are supported on the Tyan FT77DB7109 (B7109F77DV4HR-2T-NF) server. The drives are mounted vertically in the front of the chassis, once the server cover is removed. Onboard RAID is supported by Intel Rapid Storage Technology enterprise (RSTe) and Virtual RAID on CPU (vROC), and offers configurations of 0, 1, 10, 5.
Intel’s Xeon Scalable processors support six memory channels each. Each processor supports 12 memory slots with two memory modules per memory channel, and 24 memory module slots in a two-processor configuration. Total capacity on this server is listed up to 3TB when outfitted with either registered 3DS (RDIMM 3DS) or load-reduced 3DS (LRDIMM 3DS) memory modules. Standard RDIMM memory modules will provide just 768GB of memory and standard LRDIMMs just 1.5TB in two-processor configuration.
Four PLX PCIe switches on the system board enable two x8 PCIe slots and nine x16 slots, total. Nine of the x16 slots are lined up on the system board with eight supporting full-height, full-length, double-wide computational accelerators. The last slot is specifically for a Tyan LAN Mezzanine card. An Open Compute Project (OCP) high-speed networking card can only be used with an Omni-Path Fabric enabled Scalable processor. The other two x8 slots are dedicated, with one supporting a storage controller and the other located just under the power supplies acting as a network daughter card. The system comes with integrated dual 10GbE with one PHY port. Nvidia GPUs supported on the Tyan FT77DB7109 (B7109F77DV4HR-2T-NF) include the Nvidia Tesla V100, P100, P40, and P4.
LEDs on the front of the system provide a visual on hard drive and LAN status. Management of the Tyan FT77DB7109 (B7109F77DV4HR-2T-NF) is through the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) with Redfish support which monitors system operation.
