Performance

A single AMD EPYC processor from the 7001 or 7002 series powers the Tyan B8026T70AE24HR platform. The CPU supports either 8, 16, 24, or 32 cores with up to 64 threads. The single-socket server also supports up to 128 PCIe lanes and 8 memory channels. Migrating workloads to a single AMD EPYC CPU can increase savings in both CPU cost, power consumption, and potential software licensing fees.

Memory

The AMD-based platform has four memory channels and eight memory module sockets on each side of the single processor for a total of 16x active memory module slots. The Tyan TN70AB8026 B8026T70AE24HR chassis features DDR4 ECC registered (RDIMM) or load-reduced (LRDIMM) DIMMs with up to 1,024GB of memory. LRDIMMs are not supported when AMD EPYC 7002 series processors are deployed in all configurations. Memory speeds also differ from 2400 to 2666MHz depending on which CPU is installed.

Storage

The B8026T70AE24HR model is an all-NVMe storage server with 24x hot-swap 2.5-inch NVMe U.2 drive bays lining the front of the server. Additionally, there are two fixed 2.5-inch HDD/SSD drive bays on the rear with support for SATA at 6Gb/s that can be used to support the OS with redundancy. The NVMe drives are directly attached to the PCIe bus without the need for any PCI switches or port multiplication.

Expansion

The Transport SX TN70AB8026 B8026T70AE24HR platform features 128 PCIe lanes with 6x PCIe slots on the rear. The system can be configured with an OCP v2.0 LAN mezzanine that can accommodate network speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second. For additional expansion, several half-height, half-length PCIe Gen3 x8 cards are available.

Management

Featuring AMI MegaRAC firmware, the Transport SX B8026T70AE24HR supports an Integrated Platform Management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) with iKVM and Redfish management protocol. The Aspeed AST2500 monitors the processor and memory temperature, as well as CPU, memory, and power supply voltage for at-chassis and remote management of the system.
