The Tyan B8026T70AV16E8HR server offers impressive computational power for a single-socket server. The motherboard supports a chipset-based AMD EPYC CPU from either the 7001 or 7002 series. The system can support a processor with either 8, 16, 24, or 32 cores with up to 64 threads. However, the server is limited to a configurable thermal design power (TDP) of up to 180W, with 16x active DIMM slots.
The Tyan TN70AB8026 B8026T70AV16E8HR server is outfitted with 16x memory module slots, with two memory module slots for each of the 8x memory channels. The AMD EPYC processor supports DDR4 ECC registered (RDIMM) or load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules for up to 1,024GB. Depending on which processor series is launched, speeds vary from 2400MHz to 2666MHz. It is important to note that LRDIMM is not supported when AMD EPYC 7002 series CPUs are deployed in all configurations.
As a hybrid storage server, this platform supports SATA and NVMe. On the front of the chassis, you’ll find 24x drive bays plus two additional drive bays in the rear for support of an OS in mirror mode. The rear drive bays are not available when EPYC 7002 series CPUs are deployed. 8x hot-swap 2.5-inch NVMe drive bays are situated on the left of the chassis with light blue drive tray levers. The remaining 16x hot-swap 2.5-inch SATA drive bays, are indicated by dark blue tray levers. NVMe storage devices are attached directly to the PCIe bus, freeing them from the SATA protocol. This configuration significantly reduces latency while increasing transfer speeds and data resilience. Two onboard M.2 connectors will only support NVMe when EPYC 7002 series CPUs are deployed, and can be used to support the OS.
6x PCI-Express slots are located on the back of the system, with a pair of x24 riser cards that can support either x16 or x8 configurations. An OCP v2.0 LAN mezzanine, in addition to the PCIe slots, offers high-speed network capability, with support for either x8 or x16 network cards and speeds up to 100 Gigabit Ethernet. Via a MUX, a x16 LAN mezzanine borrows 8x PCIe lanes from a riser slot.
To manage the system, the onboard Aspeed AST2500 IPMI feature uses an IPMI 2.0 baseboard management controller (BMC). Via the dedicated 1GbE port on the back of the device, the BMC allows for on-site or remote management. Additionally, the chassis also offers support for Redfish management protocol, making it easy to integrate with other third-party hardware.
Designed for software defined storage, e-commerce, content distribution and more, the Tyan Transport SX TN70AB8026 B8026T70AV16E8HR server offers single-socket hybrid storage. At 2U, the system supports a single AMD EPYC processor from either the first- or second-generation. 16x memory module slots deliver up to 1,024GB of memory at full capacity. Aside from the 24x drive bays on the front of the system, there are two additional drive bays on the rear to provide more expansion.
