Offering up to 8x double slot GPU cards in a 2U chassis the Gigabyte G292-Z22 GPU server delivers powerful performance for big data, high-performance computing, and cloud computing with only a single AMD EPYC 7003 series processor. It features hybrid storage up front, support for up to 8x double wide GPUs, 2x integrated 10Gb/s SFP plus LAN ports, and up to 2TB of memory.
Designed for demanding high-performance computing applications, the Gigabyte G292-Z22 offers support for up to 8x double wide GPUs. It features a single AMD EPYC 7003 series processor with support for the next generation PCIe 4.0, which is quite literally twice as fast as PCIe 3.0, essentially doubling the bandwidth for support of peripheral devices like high-speed network cards, storage devices, and GPUs. Power is provided by 2X 2200W hot-swappable 80 Plus Platinum PSUs. The rev. A00 upgrades the supported processor from a 2nd generation AMD EPYC processor to a 3rd generation AMD EPYC processor and simply requires a firmware update.
Gigabyte G292-Z45 GPU Server
2x AMD EPYC 7002/7003, 8x PCIe 4.0, 2x PCIe 4.0, 4TB mem., 8x SAS/SATA
Both 2nd (code name ROME 7002-series CPUs) and 3rd (code name MILAN 7003-series CPUs) generation AMD EPYC processors are supported on this platform and deliver up to 64 cores of processing power. Coupled with up to 8 double-width GPUS, with four stacked on either side of the chassis, it promises even greater performance than the previous generation Gigabyte G291-Z20 GPU server featuring AMDs 1st generation AMD EPYC processors. Outfitted with AMD EPYC 7003 processors, this platform promises twice the per-socket I/O bandwidth and 4X more floating-point calculations when compared to the AMD EPYC 7002 series processors. Both 7002 and 7003 series CPUs support 8x memory channels and PCIe 4.0.
Using AMD EPYC 7002/7003 processors, memory can run at speeds of up to 3200MHz. With only 8x memory module sockets, each memory module also occupies its very own memory channel for optimal performance. Memory will run at up to 3200MHz if both the memory modules and processor support that speed. Registered (RDIMM) and load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules up to 128GB can be installed providing up to 1TB of memory by populating all 8x memory modules slots. Using 3DS RDIMM or LRDIMM modules will support memory modules with a capacity of up to 256GB for more than 2TB of memory.
The front of the chassis features hybrid storage with support for both NVMe and SATAIII directly on the motherboard. Two drive bays are designated for NVMe drives delivering up to 32Gb/s as measured in a PCIe x4 lane, which is 4X faster than SATAIII at only 6Gb/s. If you plan on installing SAS drives operating at up to 12Gb/s, you will need a discrete SAS PCIe HD/RAID controller. There are also two M.2 slots on the system board both of which use the PCIe 3.0 bus, with one a x4 slot and the other a x2 slot.
Expansion slots in the Gigabyte G292-Z22 server are mostly for GPU support with up to 8x full-length, double-width GPUs occupying 8x Gen 3.0 PCIe slots. Two more slots operating on the PCIe 4.0 bus are low-profile half-length slots that can be used for faster network controller cards or for a SAS RAID card. You cannot mix GPU types within this chassis; all GPU cards must be the same.
This system features a standard Aspeed AST2500 management controller with KVM, and access provided by the integrated platform management interface or IPMI for remote and at chassis management. Additional utilities include Gigabyte’s Management Console (AMI MegaRAC SP-X) web interface using a standard browser.
With the Gigabyte G292-Z22 GPU server, you have powerful performance at your fingertips. Even with a single processor AMD EPYC 7002 (rev. 100) or the AMD EPYC 7003 (rev. A00) this system is more than capable of delivering better performance than a dual processor Intel system. With only a single processor, you’ll save money if your applications depend on a per-socket calculation for licensing fees.
