Adding more power to the G292 family of servers, the Gigabyte G292-Z40 GPU server can support dual AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors and up to 4TB of memory at capacity. Adding to the performance is support for PCIe 4.0 and room for up to 8x double slot GPUs for support of computationally demanding workloads.
Designed for AI, AI training and inference, plus high-performance computing applications, the Gigabyte G292-Z40 GPU server supports dual AMD EPYC series processors with up to 64 cores each for up to 128 cores with both processors installed. This system will also support up to 8x full-height, full-width GPU accelerators providing augmented computation and graphics support for a number of critical applications. A hybrid backplane supports SAS, SATA and NVMe drives.
Gigabyte G292-Z45 GPU Server
2x AMD EPYC 7002/7003, 8x PCIe 4.0, 2x PCIe 4.0, 4TB mem., 8x SAS/SATA
This platform can be outfitted with one or two AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors with up 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads, each. With both processors installed, this 2U server can bring up to 128 cores and 256 virtual threads to bear on a mission-critical tasks. PCIe 4.0 is also supported providing 2x the bandwidth compared to PCIe 3.0. Each processor also supports 8x memory channels.
With 8x memory channels per processor and 16x memory module slots total, each memory module operates in its very own memory channel for maximum performance. Using standard registered (RDIMM) or load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules will provide a maximum of 2TB of memory at capacity. Outfitted with 3DS LRDIMM or RDIMM memory modules the system will support up to 4TB of memory with all 16x memory module slots populated with 256GB memory modules. Memory speeds of up to 3200MHz are also supported, but memory speed is contingent on both the memory speed supported by the CPU and memory modules and will default to the slowest performer of the two.
Offering 8x hot swap storage bays on the front of the chassis, the G292-Z40 server has a hybrid backplane and can support SAS, SATA, and NVMe Gen3 U.2 drive types. The drive bays are color coded blue for support of SAS or SATA drives on the left, and amber drive release tabs on the 4x right hand drive bays support NVMe Gen3 U.2 drives. The amber drive bays can also be outfitted using SATA or SAS drive formats, but SAS drives will require a separate HD/RAID controller card to support 12Gb/s access speeds. NVMe drives do not require additional hardware for support and can be cabled directly into the motherboard.
AMD’s EPYC 7002/7003 series CPUs bring PCIe 4.0 throughput to the supported expansion slot PCIe bus. PCIe 4.0 is twice as fast as PCIe 3.0 and provides greater bandwidth to the 8x supported GPUs. With 128 PCIe lanes per CPU, there is also support for the addition of two low-profile, high-speed add-on-cards (AOC) at the back of the chassis, or the inclusion of a SAS controller card. The system also features integrated 10Gb/s Base-T LAN ports and a dedicated GbE management LAN port.
The RJ45 GbE LAN port on the back of the chassis is integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI) compatible and provides access to the baseboard management controller (BMC). Gigabyte’s Server Management (GSM) software is Gigabyte’s proprietary multi-server management software platform and features an easy-to-use browser-based user interface. GSM can access each server’s BMC, but does require the GSM Agent software program to be installed on each server node. A GSM mobile app is also available for both Android and iOS operating systems. This system is also compatible with Redfish API.
Offering outstanding dual-socket performance in a 2U chassis, the Gigabyte G292-Z40 GPU server is designed for high-performance computing applications plus AI, and AI inference and training. It offers next gen support for PCIe 4.0 and offers a proprietary management suite of tools simplifying management and support of the system.
