AMD’s EPYC 7003 and 7002 series processors offer large core counts with up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads. With both processors installed, that’s potentially up to 128 physical cores of processing power. The Gigabyte G292-Z44 GPU server also supports PCIe 4.0 in all expansion slots, including the x16 slots for support of graphics processing units for significantly improved throughput on data and graphics processing. Dual 2200W 80 PLUS Platinum processors have a 2+0 configuration. This system is designed for high-performance computing, plus AI and AI training and inference applications.
Gigabyte G292-Z45 GPU Server

One or two AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors can be installed. With only one processor, full memory and PCIe lanes will not be available. A configurable thermal design point of 240W ensures you can still install CPUs with up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads, and with both processors installed, that’s a total core count of up to 128 physical cores. With both processors installed, there are 128 PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes, and 16x total memory channels available.
With each processor supporting 8x memory channels, there are 16x memory channels supported with both processors installed. In this case, there are only 16x memory module slots total so each memory module on the server will reside in its own memory channel for improved throughput. Registered (RDIMM) and load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported offering up to 2TB. Using 3DS RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules will provide the highest memory capacity at up to 4TB.
SAS, SATA, and NVMe drive formats are supported. Of the 8x drive bays on the front of the chassis, 4x have blue drive release tabs and support hot-swap SATA or SAS HDDs or SSDs. The other 4x drive bays have amber tabs and support hot-swap NVMe Gen3 U.2 drives, or can be outfitted with SATA HDD or SSD drive types.
All expansion slots on this system offer PCIe 4.0 sockets for double the throughput compared to PCIe 3.0. Up to 8x double slot GPU accelerators from AMD, Nvidia, XiLinx, or Qualcomm are supported significantly augmenting the computational power provided by the AMD EPYC processors. An additional 2x PCIe x16 low profile slots at the back of the chassis provide for optional high-speed I/O controllers and can also be used for support of a discrete SAS HD/RAID controller offering data transfer speeds of up to 12Gb/s. A dedicated slot on the motherboard can be outfitted with an open compute project (OCP) 3.0 card for additional I/O that is easy to install and remove plus PCIe 4.0 compatibility.
Offering a dual BIOS solution with two physical BIOS chips, this server is equipped to handle damage to one and continue operation with a default factory BIOS. The Gigabyte Management Console (GSM) features an easy-to-use browser-based user interface and is available free of charge. GSM also provides server health monitoring, remote trouble shooting, resource utilization monitoring and helps administrators reduce server downtime.
