Offering support for up to 8x double-slot GPU cards, the Gigabyte G292-Z42 GPU server is ideal for AI, AI training and inference, plus other high-performance computing applications. It features dual AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors, hybrid storage, and support for up to 4TB of memory.
The Gigabyte G292-Z42 GPU server is a high-performance platform that can support AMD EPYC processors up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads. AMD’s EPYC 7002 and 7003 series processors also support up to 128 PCIe lanes, which provide connections for up to 8x full height, double-slot GPUs and additional slots in back for support of high-speed I/O options or a SAS controller card. Storage options include NVMe, SAS and SATA storage devices. The system is powered by dual 2200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSUs operating in a 2+0 configuration.
Gigabyte G292-Z45 GPU Server
2x AMD EPYC 7002/7003, 8x PCIe 4.0, 2x PCIe 4.0, 4TB mem., 8x SAS/SATA
Two AMD EPYC series 7002 or 7003 processors are supported. Each processor offers 8x memory channels, each outfitted with only a single memory module slot enabling exceptional bandwidth for complex applications and workloads. Processors are limited to a configurable thermal design point (cTDP) of 240W but that will still allow for processors with up to 64 cores to be installed. For full access to PCIe lanes and memory both processors are required.
With dual AMD EPYC processors, there are 16x memory module slots divided equally between the two. In fact, each memory module will occupy its own memory channel with 8x memory module slots and 8x memory channels allocated to each CPU. Registered (RDIMM) and load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported providing up to 2TB of memory using 128GB memory module in each slot. 3DS RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules will provide a higher memory capacity at up to 4TB of memory using 256GB memory modules in each module slot.
Featuring a total of 8x hot-swap storage bays up front, the G292-Z42 server has 4x bays with amber drive release tabs and 4x with blue drive tray release tabs. The blue trays can support NVMe Gen 3.0 U.2 drives or SATA drives. The drive trays with the blue release tabs will support SAS or SATA drives but SAS drives will require a discrete SAS HD/RAID controller. SATA drives will deliver data transmission speeds of up to 6Bg/s, while SAS drives are capable of delivering 12Gb/s access speeds. NVMe U.2 drives on the other hand, offer greater resiliency and faster speeds by using the PCIe bus, which connects directly to the CPU instead of through the onboard controller.
This chassis offers a mixed bag of PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 4.0. There are 8x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots used for the double-wide GPUs, and 2x PCIe 4.0 x16 half-length, low-profile slots that can be used for high-performance I/O or to support an HD/RAID controller for implementing SAS storage devices. GPU and accelerator cards from AMD and Nvidia are supported for enhanced computation and graphics in distributed environments. There are 2x integrated 10Gb/s BASE-T LAN ports and a dedicated GbE management LAN port on the back of the chassis.
The dedicated GbE LAN port on the back of the system accesses the baseboard management controller (BMC) for remote management of the system. Gigabyte’s proprietary management console AMI MegaRAC SP-X provides a user-friendly interface with a hardware inventory and provides management and control of essential systems plus backup and restore.
Outfitted with dual AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors and up to 8x GPUs, the Gigabyte G292-Z42 GPU server provides exceptional performance for general high-performance computing applications in addition to AI, plus AI training and inference. It offers the latest technology with support for hybrid storage up front and up to 4TB of memory in a 2U chassis. IT Creations is a North American distributor of Gigabyte products.
