AMD EPYC 7003 or 7002 series processors provide up to 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes enabling the Gigabyte G292-Z46 GPU server to support up to 4x double slot GPUs in a 2U chassis. This system also features a hybrid backplane for support of SAS, SATA and NVMe drive formats, plus support for up to 4TB of memory, depending on your choice of memory modules.
Outfitted with up to 4x full-height, full-width GPUs, the Gigabyte G292-Z46 GPU server is a perfect platform for running high-performance computing applications, plus AI, and AI training and inference applications. It can also be used for support of scientific and financial analysis bringing up to 128 CPU cores to the task with dual AMD EPYC 7003 series processors and up to 4TB of memory in a 2U chassis.
Gigabyte G292-Z45 GPU Server
2x AMD EPYC 7002/7003, 8x PCIe 4.0, 2x PCIe 4.0, 4TB mem., 8x SAS/SATA
Supporting the efforts of data scientists, researchers and engineers, the dual AMD EPYC 7002 and 7003 series processors also enable up to 4x GPU accelerators delivering exceptional levels of performance. Each processor can also support up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads for up to 128 physical cores with both processors installed. Using only one CPU will reduce the number of memory modules and PCIe lanes supported. Processors are limited to a configurable thermal design point (cTDP) of 240W.
With dual AMD EPYC 7002/7003 series processors installed, this platform supports 16x memory channels and 16x memory module slots divided equally between the processors. Standard registered (RDIMM) and load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules will provide up to 2TB of memory at capacity. 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules will provide twice the memory capacity at up to 4TB using 256GB memory modules in all 16x slots. Memory speeds of up to 3200 MHz are supported with appropriate CPUs and memory modules that will support that speed.
8x storage bays on the front of the G292-Z46 server provide hybrid storage for hot-swap SAS, SATA and NVMe drive formats. Front drive bays are color-coded with blue and florescent green drive release tabs. The blue drive bays support SAS or SATA drives, while the drive bays with green tabs support Gen4 NVMe U.2 drives, but can also be used to support SAS or SATA drive formats. SAS drives will require a discrete HD/RAID controller.
2x low-profile PCIe 4.0 slots, accessible from the back of the system, can support additional high-speed I/O controllers or can be used to support a SAS HD/RAID controller. A SAS controller will provide more control over your storage and enable 12Gb/s data transfer speeds with SAS drives. Two sets of GPU cages line each side of the motherboard and can support 1x GPU accelerator each for a total of 4x GPUs in stacked 1x1 configurations. Supported accelerators include AMD, Nvidia, Xilinx, and Qualcomm options to provide the computational power to support scientific inquiries, financial analytics, and data analysis.
Gigabyte provides two proprietary options for managing this system, the Gigabyte Management Console for single server management, and the Gigabyte Server Manager (GSM) for multiple server management. Both offer an intuitive browser-based user interface and provides remote troubleshooting, information on inventory, plus health status and out-of-band reboot. A dedicated RJ45 port on the back of the system provides access to the integrated ASPEED AST2500 baseboard management controller (BMC). The system is also compatible with Redfish and integrated platform management interface 2.0 protocols.
This Gigabyte G292-Z46 GPU server supports only 4x GPU accelerators compared to other G292 family members, which can support up to 8x double-width GPUs. Outfitted with dual AMD EPYC series 7002 or 7003 series processors, it will support up to 4TB of memory and features hybrid storage up front with a choice of SAS, SATA or NVMe storage devices. This system is recommended for AI, AI training, AI inference and other high-performance computing applications.
