With dual AMD EPYC series processors in a 2U chassis, the Gigabyte R282-Z9G server is designed for standard networking applications. It offers 20x 2.5-inch Gen4 NVMe hot-swap storage bays in front plus 2x more bays in the back. This system also supports RAID for all of the front mounted NVMe storage devices by use of a GRAID RAID card.
Offering game-changing RAID for NVMe storage devices, the Gigabyte R282-Z9G rack server eliminates the traditional bottlenecks associated with SSD storage with a software/hardware RAID solution. It also features AMD’s EPYC 7003 series processors for up to 128 physical cores and 256 virtual threads in a dual processor configuration. This platform is designed to support standard business networking applications such as, file storage, hosting an Intranet, file access via VPN, for use as a shared Internet connection and use as a virtual server.
Gigabyte R282-Z94 Server
2x AMD EPYC 7002/7003, dual 1600W, 32x DIMMS, 8TB, 24x 2.5" Gen4 U.2
Outfitted with dual 3rd generation AMD EPYC processors this system can support up to 64 cores per socket for up to 128 cores with both processors installed. EPYC processors also support PCIe 4.0 throughput for improved performance with I/O and NVMe storage devices which also use the PCIe bus for a direct connection to the CPU. The system is powered by dual 1+1 redundant 1600W 80 PLUS Platinum PSUs. The CPU configurable thermal design point (TDP) is limited to 240W unless an M.2 drive is installed, which will lower the supported TDP to 225W.
8-channel memory offered by the EPYC CPUs can deliver up to 8TB of memory with all slots outfitted with 3DS registered (RDIMM) or load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules. standard RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules that utilize a standard die without stacking can support up to 4TB of memory with all module slots occupied by 128GB memory modules. A maximum memory sped of up to 3200MHz can be achieved even with two memory modules per memory channel.
20x 2.5-inch Gen4 U.2 NVMe hot swappable storage bays line the front of the Gigabyte R282-Z9G Server. Equipped with a GRAID SupremeRAID SR-1000 NVMe RAID Card, this system also offers a disruptive hardware/software solution enabling RAID for NVMe storage devices. The PCIe based GRAID RAID card interacts with a virtual NVMe controller and high-performance AI processor to deliver enterprise-class RAID solutions. Two more 2.5-inch drive bays in the back of the chassis support hot-swap SATA or SAS drives that can be used to support the operating system. There is also a single M.2 PCIe gen4 x4 slot at the back of the chassis.
Three risers at the back of the chassis provide opportunities for additional network controllers, high performance storage, and storage controllers. Most notably, the GRAID SupremeRAID SR-1000 NVMe RAID Card occupies one of the middle riser card slots. That said, four other slots on the other two risers are also used to support the upfront NVMe storage devices leaving a single PCIe Gen4 x16 FHFL slot for alternate expansion cards. Two OCP mezzanine slots, one for an OCP 2.0 card and the other and OCP 3.0 connector provide additional I/O port and connection speeds.
Along with a slew of built-in security features, Gigabyte also offers two free-of-charge software suites to help manage the system both remotely and at the chassis. The Gigabyte Management Console is for a single server or small cluster of servers and the Gigabyte Server Management (GSM) is for several servers and large clusters of servers but requires the GSM Agent to be installed on each system to be managed. There are also no licensing charges for use of these software utilities and each has an HTML 5 graphical user interface to make managing the system easy and intuitive. The GSM Agent accesses the Aspeed AST2500 baseboard management controller for system status, trouble shooting, and inventory. There is also a mobile app supported by both Android and iOS operating systems to provide real-time information.
The Gigabyte R282-Z9G server offers the latest technology to support a growing business. With support for dual 2nd and 3rd generation AMD EPYC processors, 8TB of memory, and up to 22x SSD drives, this server can easily fit the bill for a number of mission critical networking applications to support your growing business.
